Part of our empty liquor bottles range; the stock moulds are pictured at the end of this guide.
An empty spirit bottle has no list price: every quote is built per project from the mould, the glass weight, the decoration, the order quantity and the freight terms. What a buyer can fix in advance is the specification, and the two figures that move a quote most are capacity and weight class. A standard 750ml flint bottle weighs 480-580g, while a luxury version of the same shape can run to 800-950g.
Standard glass weight for each capacity
Use the weights below as the starting point for a brief. They describe plain flint bottles at the weight the market normally expects for each size, before any heavy-base upgrade.
| Capacity | Where it is used | Standard weight |
|---|---|---|
| 50ml | Miniatures and sampling | 55-70g |
| 100ml | Travel retail and gift sets | 95-120g |
| 200ml | Quarter bottle or flask | 170-210g |
| 375ml | Half bottle | 280-340g |
| 500ml | European standard | 380-460g |
| 700ml | EU spirits standard | 450-550g |
| 750ml | US spirits standard | 480-580g |
| 1L | Duty-free and value lines | 600-700g |
| 1.75L | US handle or jug | 900-1,050g |
Cost does not fall in step with size. A 50ml miniature contains far less glass than a full bottle, yet each piece still has to be formed, annealed, inspected and handled, and a machine turns out less glass per hour on small ware.
Weight classes for a 750ml bottle
Heft is how super-premium spirits signal their position on the shelf. Glass is charged by the material in it and the time it takes to form, so each step up in weight class raises the bottle cost for the same silhouette.
| Class | Weight | Base thickness | Usual segment |
|---|---|---|---|
| Economy | 400-450g | 8-12mm | Well and rail spirits |
| Standard | 480-580g | 12-18mm | Premium mainstream |
| Heavy | 650-750g | 20-28mm | Super-premium |
| Ultra heavy | 800-950g | 30mm+ | Luxury and limited editions |
State the target weight and base thickness in the enquiry. Two plants asked for "a 750ml spirit bottle" without them will price different classes, and the offers will not be comparable.

Decoration, closures and cartons
Decoration is the usual reason two offers for the same bottle disagree. Frosting, printing and other finishes are separate line items on top of the bare glass, so ask for each to be priced on its own line.

The closure and the secondary packaging are also outside the bottle price. Budget for them separately when working out what a complete spirits package costs to land.
What an FOB quote covers
FOB means the bottle has been produced, inspected, packed on export pallets and loaded on the vessel at the named Chinese port. Ocean freight, insurance and duty at destination are not in it, and neither are closures or decoration unless the quote lists them.
Before comparing offers, confirm three things: whether pallet and shrink-wrap packing is included, whether finish gauging certificates come with the shipment, and whether annealing reports are supplied. All three have real value and are easy to leave out of a low number.
How quantity changes the quote
A single-container trial order sits at the top of the range for any bottle. Larger programmes and annual frame agreements with scheduled runs bring the unit cost down, and a brand planning a full range gains most by placing every size, from 50ml through 1L, under one agreement. Volume also earns priority on the decoration line, which matters in peak season as much as the unit cost does.

Frequently asked questions
What does a 750ml spirit bottle cost on average?
There is no meaningful average. The figure depends on the mould, the weight class, the decoration, the quantity and the freight terms, so it is quoted per project.
How much more is a heavy-base bottle?
It costs more because it contains more glass and takes longer to form. How much more depends on the class chosen, from 650-750g heavy to 800-950g ultra heavy, and on the mould.
How much does decoration add?
That depends on the process and how many are combined, which is why it should be itemised on the quote instead of folded into the bottle price.
