Sizes are easiest to judge against the standard, and the benchmark most wine, spirits and oil buyers start from is 750ml glass bottles.
An 8 oz (237 ml) glass bottle is not one product: beverage, sauce, dairy, dressing and wellness-shot bottles share the capacity but differ in shape, weight and neck finish. Beverage rounds run 200 to 260 g with a 28 mm or 38 mm finish, while sauce bottles run 240 to 300 g with a 33 mm or 38 mm lug finish for hot filling. Tell the supplier the application and the fill process before the capacity, because that is what decides which mould qualifies.
Which 8 oz bottle fits which product
| Application | Usual shape | Finish | What the bottle is built for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beverage | Round or slightly squared | 28 mm or 38 mm | 200 to 260 g; high-speed lines and one-way distribution |
| Sauce | Round or flask | 33 mm or 38 mm lug | 240 to 300 g; hot filling and deep stacking in club-store cases |
| Dairy and drinkable yogurt | Wide-mouth | 38 to 43 mm | A mouth wide enough to pour a viscous product, with a tamper-evident closure |
| Dressing and marinade | Flask or French square | Lug finishes are common | Shelf efficiency in a crowded condiment set |
| Wellness shot, cold-pressed juice, functional drinks | French square or round, flint | 38 mm | HPP at up to 87,000 psi, which calls for verified wall uniformity |
The gap between these is real glass. A hot sauce belongs in the 280 g flask or round; a juice belongs in the lighter beverage round. A quote built on the wrong application can be out by as much as 60 g of glass per bottle.

Matching the bottle to hot fill, HPP or carbonation
The fill process narrows the choice faster than anything else, and every process in the industry turns up at this size.
- Hot fill. Sauces and dressings go in at 85 to 93 degrees Celsius. A twist-off lug cap with a plastisol liner tolerates that temperature and pulls down the vacuum button shoppers read as a safety signal.
- HPP (high-pressure processing). Cold-pressed juice needs wall uniformity within plus or minus 0.4 mm, since pressure finds the thinnest point, plus a base push-up that survives 87,000 psi without cracking. Plenty of stock 8 oz moulds do not pass, so we check which shapes are HPP-validated before any cases are ordered.
- Carbonation. This rules out more bottles than the other two. Above 2.5 volumes of CO2 the mould must be pressure-rated, typically to 6 bar minimum, with a 26 mm crown or 28 mm PCO finish. Most 8 oz sauce and dairy shapes have no pressure rating.
Put the process in the inquiry with its number: hot fill and temperature, HPP and pressure level, or carbonation and volumes. A wrong guess ends as a pallet your co-packer's QA turns away, or as failures in the field.
Neck finishes and the closures they take
At 8 oz the finish follows the fill process more than shopper preference.
| Finish | Closure | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 28 mm PCO-style | Plastic sport cap | Cold-fill beverages and waters |
| 28 mm ROPP | Aluminum roll-on closure | Cold-fill beverages and waters |
| 33 mm and 38 mm lug | Twist-off lug cap, plastisol liner | Hot-filled sauces and dressings |
| 38 mm and 43 mm screw | Screw cap with induction-seal liner | Dairy and premium juice, where retailers require tamper evidence |
Two details are worth settling early. Lug finishes exist as 3-lug and 4-lug versions, each with its own cap inventory, so find out which one your co-packer stocks before bottles are made. Induction sealing depends on the land area, the flat sealing surface on top of the finish, staying flat within 0.1 mm, and some 8 oz moulds on the market do not hold that. Closure choices specific to sauces are covered in our guide to wholesale glass sauce bottles.

Case packs, pallets and container loads
This size packs well, and standard export packing is already close to optimal. Beverage rounds ship 24 to a partitioned case. Sauce flasks and French squares ship 12 to a case, because their shoulders need the protection of individual cells.
| Unit | Beverage rounds, 24-pack | Sauce flasks, 12-pack |
|---|---|---|
| Case | About 40 x 27 x 20 cm, 11 to 13 kg | Depends on the flask shape |
| Pallet | 120 to 144 cases, or 2,880 to 3,456 bottles | Depends on the flask shape |
| 40-foot high-cube container | 20 to 22 pallets, 60,000 to 72,000 bottles | 50,000 to 58,000 bottles |
If you buy several finishes, combine them in a single container. If your volume falls between one and four pallets, a consolidated sailing is the better route.

What moves the price
We quote 8 oz bottles per project. The figure depends on the mould, the glass colour (amber for light-sensitive juices costs more than flint), decoration, quantity and freight terms, and French squares sit between the cheapest and dearest shapes. Glass weight is the lever buyers most often overlook at this size.
For viscous foods, compare a jar before committing to a bottle: the 8 oz mason jar is often the more economical container at this capacity.
Planning 8 oz as part of a size range
Few brands stay with one SKU here. A sauce maker typically pairs the 8 oz retail flask with a 5 oz woozy for foodservice and a 12 oz for club stores; a juice brand sells 8 oz shots next to 12 oz and 16 oz daily formats. Handled as one program, those bottles share combined volume, decoration plates, a freight consolidation and a QC protocol, which makes the quote simpler to build.
Neighbouring sizes have their own pages: 12 oz glass bottles above this one and 2 oz glass bottles well below it. Dairy and juice buyers running a full ladder of sizes can plan it from the wholesale juice bottle page.
FAQs about 8 oz glass bottles wholesale
What is the MOQ for 8 oz glass bottles?
It is set per project. The mould and the line that runs it determine the minimum.
What do 8 oz glass bottles cost at volume?
There is no list price. Mould, decoration, quantity and freight terms each change the quote.
Do hot sauce and juice use the same 8 oz bottle?
No. Hot sauce takes the heavier lug-finish flask or round made for hot filling. Juice takes the beverage round with a 28 or 38 mm screw finish, from an HPP-validated mould if it is cold-pressed.
How many 8 oz bottles fit in a container?
See the loading table above; the count depends on whether the bottles are beverage rounds in 24-packs or sauce flasks in 12-packs.
Can 8 oz bottles take carbonation or HPP?
HPP, yes, provided the mould is on the validated list. Carbonation only in a pressure-rated mould, which excludes most sauce and dairy shapes. State the process and we will propose only moulds that qualify.
Is lightweighting worth it at this size?
Above 500,000 bottles a year, yes.
